WnD Reborn: The Sleeping Dragon Awakens
Over the past few weeks, the team has been hiring and expanding. The time has come to show you what we’ve been working on.
Introducing WnD Reborn, a new chapter in the greatest on-chain test of faith in all of the metaverse.
Cross the Rift to enter the new realm of Polygon where gas is cheap and abundant. Train powerful wizards with high Training Proficiency. Win valuable loot from the Training Game. Build up your armies and inventory to prepare for PvP.
There are many paths to glory.
Code Audit & Bug Bounties
We are committed to ensuring all game updates are well thought out and rigorously tested.
We are reopening our bug bounty program paying up to $50,000 for responsible disclosure of critical bugs.
We are also in the process of contracting a reputable audit firm and/or shadowy super coders to review the code.
The Rift
Meet The Rift, the first gamified L2 bridge.
We’re well aware how costly gas can be on Ethereum nowadays. It can cost hundreds of dollars in gas to simply stake.
The Rift solves this problem by allowing you to transfer wizards, dragons and GP between Ethereum and Polygon. You can play on the Polygon network where it will cost only pennies instead of dollars, and your NFTs will remain staked on Ethereum where they can be easily bought and sold. This paradigm has been successfully pioneered by EtherOrcs and wouldn’t have been possible without their help.
Development of the Rift is nearing completion. The Rift will be tested meticulously while L2 gameplay is being developed.
Powering the Rift
GP is needed to power each side of The Rift, and a lot of it. Powering the Rift is a group effort.
Our tower giga-brains have divined the numbers and determined that the community must have a total of 42,069,696.9 GP staked to power each side. The Rift must be powered on Ethereum for anyone to travel to Polygon, and vice versa.
Staking GP also increases your personal Rift Tier. A higher Rift Tier grants in-game advantages starting with training and quest cooldown reductions, among other future things.
Stealing Wizards
Dragons have found easy prey by stealing the unsuspecting, untrained wizards who venture through The Rift in either direction.
However, stronger wizards have a chance of defending themselves against the dragons. The chance of Gen 1 wizards being stolen starts at 10% and is reduced by 1% with each subsequent Training Proficiency level.
Treasure Chests contain 25,000 GP. They can be offered to the dragons as a bribe, halving the chance of being stolen.
Example:
If you don’t hold a treasure chest, a training level 1 wizard has a 9% chance of being stolen.
If you hold a treasure chest, there is a 50% chance the dragon will steal your treasure chest instead, leaving your overall odds as 4.5% stolen.
Dragons
Dragons are mobile and opportunistic creatures, going wherever the action is.
In WnD Reborn, Dragons have taken notice to an opportunity to steal untrained Gen 1 wizards from the Rift.
Dragons can also steal Gen 1 wizards who enter or exit from the Training Grounds. Wizards must stake in the Training Grounds to play the Training Game.
We are introducing a third dragon mechanic. Since all dragons are eligible to reap rewards across the realm, you can choose to place your dragon in a specific area to increase rewards in that area.
Placing a dragon at The Rift will double the likelihood that they get a steal in that area (proportional to the rank of the dragon, of course). The same goes with Training and any future area added to the realm.
Training Proficiency
Training Proficiency is a new talent each wizard can level up by completing rounds in the training game. Wizards who make it through training will be far more valuable as assets.
In the training game, a high Training Proficiency lowers the GP cost per round and boosts your wizard’s odds of survival and loot multiplier. Loot rewards in the training game range from a common Elixir of Healing, the uber rare Robe of Metropolis that’s been leaked, and even a legendary Item of Many Mysteries.
Outside of the training game, Training Proficiency reduces the odds of being stolen by dragons and affects future mechanics such as questing.
The maximum Training Proficiency level is 8 and follows the following training curve:
Rounds completed
Each wizard starts at level 0. The maximum level is 8.
It takes 6 training rounds to reach level 1. It takes 2 training rounds to reach each subsequent level.
GP cost/round
GP is burnt every training round. The GP cost per round starts at 12,000. There is a 1,000 GP discount with each subsequent training level.
The first round is free for gen 0 wizards.
% chance of death
The training minigame holds rare and powerful prizes for the brave wizards who dare to play. The stronger your wizard becomes, the more likely he is to survive each round.
The chance of death is a base chance of 10% minus 1% for every level of Training Proficiency. Wizards that die are burned.
To achieve a level 8 Training Proficiency there is a ~78% chance total likelihood that your wizard dies before reaching it.
GPnomics
In line with our original vision, GP is a valuable and useful resource which will power the game economy.
GP powers the Rift to allow bridging between Ethereum and Polygon, increases your Rift Tier to confer in-game advantages, and enables your wizards to play rounds of the Training Game to earn Training Proficiency and loot.
After passive staking for GP on L1 ends, in-game rewards will take on different forms. Rewards in the game can include rare in-game items, upgrading characters and items, unlocking new questing paths etc. GP will be earned from PvP in Act 2 and from Jobs in Act 3, but you must play to earn.
Wizards and Dragons who have been guarding the Tower on L1 will be airdropped the owed GP rewards directly to your wallet on Polygon. You will be able to stake the GP in The Rift for ~$0.02 worth of $MATIC. The formula for the Dragon GP calculation will be shared in an upcoming announcement, as there are edge cases we will need to include.
The GP owed will be distributed to the community from the team’s 12% GP allocation. The remainder of the GP supply allocated to community rewards remains untouched.
Act wisely with your GP.
